It took me the longest time to figure out my correct foundation shade. I started off by using the shade ‘Ivory’ which obviously was too light for my skin but no one in my desi household was ready to admit that my skin was actually darker than my mothers. Just asian things :p Since back then I had very little knowledge about makeup I used to purchase almost every shade that seemed somewhat close to my skin without ever trying it on my face and the salesgirls were of little to no help aswell. After trying out many foundations I came across the Studio Fix Fluid by M.A.C in NC30. After using that for a while and a little more research I realized that I was actually a NC20-25. Since M.A.C shades are considered the universal shades in the makeup world it became easier for me to find the right shade and type of foundation for my skintone and type.
Skintone: Light medium, Nc20-25
Skin Type: Combination
1. Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation SPF15:
It is described as Normal to oily skin types, and anyone who wants a natural-looking finish plus hydrating, all-day wear.
2. Revlon Colorstay Foundation:
It is described as Longwearing coverage with Time Release Technology and a lightweight formula that won’t cake, fade, or rub off. Specifically made for combination or oily skin to control oil absorption and shine. Your look stays flawless throughout the day.
I absolutely love this foundation. Its great when I want more coverage and definitely lighter on the pocket. It gives me a flawless finish that lasts all day. It doesn’t look cakey on my face although it is a heavy coverage foundation.
3. M.A.C Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15:
It is described as An oil controlling formula that offers a natural matte finish with medium to full coverage.
The finish of this foundation is more dewy than matte because its not one that sets very easily especially on oily skintypes. I use this foundation on days when I need full coverage like on special occasions. It looks great in photos and provides a great base for my makeup. With this foundation a little goes a long way and it lasts a long time.
